The Correct Asymptotic Variance for the Sample Mean of a Homogeneous Poisson Marked Point Process
نویسندگان
چکیده
The asymptotic variance of the sample mean of a homogeneous Poisson marked point process has been studied in the literature but confusion has arisen as to the correct expression due to some technical intricacies. This note sets the record straight with regards the variance of the sample mean. In addition, a central limit theorem in the general d–dimensional case is also established. Math. Local Block Bootstrap for Inhomogeneous Poisson Marked Point Processes
The asymptotic theory for the sample mean of a marked point process in d dimensions is established, allowing for the possibility that the underlying Poisson point process is inhomogeneous. A novel local block bootstrap method for resampling inhomogeneous Poisson marked point processes is introduced, and its consistency is proven for the sample mean and related statistics. Finite-sample simulati...
متن کاملStable Marked Point Processes
In many contexts, such as queueing theory, spatial statistics, geostatistics and meteorology, data are observed at irregular spatial positions. One model of this situation is to consider the observation points as generated by a Poisson Process. Under this assumption, we study the limit behavior of the partial sums of the Marked Point Process {(ti, X(ti))}, where X(t) is a stationary random fiel...
متن کاملN ov 2 01 5 Estimation of entropy for Poisson marked point processes
In this paper, a kernel estimator of the differential entropy of the mark distribution of a homogeneous Poisson marked point process is proposed. The marks have an absolutely continuous distribution on a compact Riemannian manifold without boundary. L2 and almost surely consistency of this estimator as well as its asymptotic normality are investigated.
متن کاملOptimum Block Size in Separate Block Bootstrap to Estimate the Variance of Sample Mean for Lattice Data
The statistical analysis of spatial data is usually done under Gaussian assumption for the underlying random field model. When this assumption is not satisfied, block bootstrap methods can be used to analyze spatial data. One of the crucial problems in this setting is specifying the block sizes. In this paper, we present asymptotic optimal block size for separate block bootstrap to estimate the...
متن کاملFractional Poisson Process
For almost two centuries, Poisson process with memoryless property of corresponding exponential distribution served as the simplest, and yet one of the most important stochastic models. On the other hand, there are many processes that exhibit long memory (e.g., network traffic and other complex systems). It would be useful if one could generalize the standard Poisson process to include these p...
